Just a quick thought…
Unless the LORD builds the house,
its builders labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchmen stand guard in vain.
In vain you rise early and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat —
for He grants sleep to those He loves.
Is it a God thing or just our thing?
Commentary: Inordinate excessive care about the things of this world is a vain and fruitless thing. We weary ourselves for vanity if we have it, and often weary ourselves in vain for it. Questions to ask ourselves: Who is getting the glory for this? What is the fruit? Does it seem to be “alive” and “growing” or stagnant?
