I Just Want to Be Happy

Updated: Sep 18, 2021

We just want to be happy.

We search for that next thing, that promise of happiness. It will happen when we reach or achieve _________. We reach it. It gives us a quick dopamine hit but leaves us wanting more. Once again, we’re left empty.

Why?

Because the happy we are searching for is not attainable from anything outside us.

It is an inside work. It is finding peace and security, love and joy, contentment and life inside our hearts.

We want the fullness of harmony without the foundation of melody.

God is melody and harmony beautifully embracing our hearts. Everything else is a hopeless chase for freedom that leaves us bound to the “next thing” that promises to make us whole but is incapable of delivering.

Our only hope is to stop chasing that which falsely promises happiness and turn our focus to the part of us created to connect and live in Him.

Once we find that place in Him and our hearts are filled with His joy, it is time to get to work! Get up, this is not meant to keep for ourselves. We are given this hope & peace to turn around and gift it to those around us.

We are happiest as vessels, conduits, messengers, funnels that pour out the hope within us.

Oh the irony, that emptying ourselves makes us whole because He fills us back up every time and never leaves us wanting.

Be His hands, His feet, His heart and you will not have to search for “happy” ever again.

Stay connected, cultivate your relationship with Him. Keep His word and love in focus. Remember the call, it’s birthed on the inside but seen on the outside.

Romans 15:13

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
